Crowns

crowns

Sometimes more than a filling is needed to repair a tooth. If a tooth is severely decayed, broken or missing, a crown may be what you need.

Dr. Charles Barotz has crafted and placed thousands of dental crowns. With more than 30 years of experience in tooth reconstruction, Dr. Barotz will make sure that if you need a crown, it fits perfectly, is extremely durable, gives you a comfortable bite, and is color-matched to look and feel like your natural tooth.

Beautiful, permanent crowns can transform your smile

Dr. Barotz creates permanent, natural-looking crowns for you that are made of the highest quality materials. He uses only the best dental labs in the country, and makes sure that each crown is exactly what you need.

Crowns are a type of dental restoration that fully cover the portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line. A cap or crown protects the underlying tooth.

Why do I need a crown?

crownYou may need a crown for many different reasons. Crowns are used to:

  •  Support a weakened tooth where there is more filling than tooth.

  •  Protect a tooth that has extensive damage due to decay.

  •  Cover discolored and esthetically unpleasing teeth.

  •  Support and protect teeth with fractures

  •  Support and protect brittle teeth after a root canal.

Sometimes a crown is not the best solution, and other dental procedures such as porcelain veneers or dental bonding are more appropriate.

Helping you get crowns that are perfect for you

Dr. Barotz is often called a “perfectionist” by his patients because of the individualized attention and craftsmanship he puts into every procedure he performs.

When you and Dr. Barotz decide that you need crowns, you will work together as partners to put the perfect crowns in place.

At the first visit, Dr. Barotz will carefully prepare the tooth to maximize the retention and aesthetics of the crown. A mold or impression is taken to provide to the laboratory that will craft the permanent crown. A temporary plastic or acrylic crown is then placed to protect the tooth and the gum. Home care for the temporary crown is extremely important while your permanent crown is being made. The health of your tooth depends upon it.

Next, the laboratory carefully crafts the crown. In about two weeks, the crown is ready for the dentist to place it on the tooth. The temporary crown is removed and the permanent crown is placed. The final fit of the crown will be checked for accuracy, adjusted for bite discrepancies, and cemented to your tooth.

Your treatment plan will be unique

Dr. Barotz has helped hundreds of patients perfect their smiles, but he is very aware that each case is unique.  He will carefully design a treatment plan for you that is right for you and only you. With many options for treatment at his fingertips, he will make sure that you get the beautiful, healthy, and perfect smile that you want.

Dr. Barotz has placed thousands of crowns and can create a new, beautiful smile for you.
