Dental Implants

Permanent replacements that look and feel like your natural teeth
Dr. Barotz will provide you with complete dental implants right in his Denver, Colorado office.
Denver dentist Dr. Charles Barotz has been placing dental implants for more than 20 years, and does all parts of the procedure right here in our office. A procedure that anchors a new replacement tooth to a surgically-placed titanium post, implant dentistry is considered a "modern miracle" by those patients with missing teeth who find themselves able to smile and eat normally again.
Dental implants can be used to replace individual missing teeth, to replace an entire arch of teeth, or to support dentures and give them additional support in your mouth. Not everyone is a candidate for dental implants, but for those who are, the advantages in terms of comfort and lifestyle are tremendous.
Dr. Barotz has performed hundreds of dental implant surgeries to date, and is considered by his peers to be an expert and leader in the Dental Implantology field. Unlike many dentists, he performs the complete procedure right here in our office, from the surgical implantation of the titanium post to the placement of the new replacement tooth. This means that you won't have to go from office to office for your dental treatment - you can have all of the necessary procedures performed right here in our comfortable office, by the treating doctor who knows you best.

Advantages of dental implants
Dental implants offer many advantages over missing teeth, conventional bridges or dentures.
They help restore proper chewing function, allowing you to eat foods that were too difficult to eat before.
-
They don’t move or loosen.
-
Dental implants are the closest thing to the look, feel, and function of natural teeth.
-
No gooey adhesives.
-
No unsightly hooks or clasps to place damaging pressure on remaining natural teeth.
-
The elimination of irritated or painful gums.
-
No need to grind down and crown healthy teeth.
-
They help stop bone loss and jawbone shrinkage by “mimicking” the roots of natural teeth.
-
Through osseointegration (the fusing of bone to the titanium implant), they actually become part of your body.

Our dental implant procedure
In order to be certain that you have sufficient bone to anchor the implant, Dr. Barotz will begin your procedure by ordering a CAT scan (Computer-Assisted Tomography) of the jaw.

Next, Dr. Barotz will place the dental implant titanium post. A local anesthetic is sufficient for most people during this procedure.
Time is required to allow the bone to fuse with the implant-a process called osseointegration. Depending on the where the implants are placed, this process can take anywhere from 2-6 months for the lower jaw and 4-6 months for the upper jaw.
All procedures from this point on are much easier than for natural teeth, and require no anesthesia. Depending on your case, Dr. Barotz will attach a carefully crafted artificial tooth or a set of dentures to the post(s). This process usually requires a visit to take impressions for fabrication, and a temporary tooth or teeth for you to try, with a final visit to place and adjust the permanent teeth or tooth.

Are you a candidate for implant dentistry?
If you are missing a tooth or teeth, you are a candidate for dental implants. Age is not a factor.
Anyone who is missing one or more of their teeth is a candidate for a dental implant, and age is not a factor.
In general, anyone who is healthy enough to undergo a routine tooth extraction or oral surgery is probably a good candidate for dental implants.
Osteoporosis is not a factor, provided there is sufficient bone in which to anchor an implant. If there is not sufficient bone to hold the implant, bone grafts are a possible option.
Individuals with certain chronic diseases, such as diabetes, heavy smokers and alcohol abusers may not be good candidates for dental implants.
To find out if you are candidate for dental implants, come in today for a free consultation with Dr. Barotz. He will examine your teeth and jaw, and explain all of your options to you.
