“Recently, I went in to Barotz Dental to have the entire top of my mouth restored with implants and the temporary teeth were placed.

“They are all very caring, gentle, and truly concerned with your comfort and go out of their way to make that happen. I would not go anywhere else for this type of procedure.

“The temporary teeth look amazing so I know the permanent ones are going to be absolutely beautiful.

“These people are some of the most professional and caring people I have ever had the opportunity to meet.

“I highly recommend this practice, especially if you are scared of dental work. You could not be in better hands!

No Fear Sleep Dentistry

Dr. Charles Barotz has been providing advanced dental services to Colorado patients for more than 30 years.

A relaxing alternative is available if you are frightened of dental treatment

At Barotz Dental, we are very experienced in dealing with patients who are fearful of dental treatment. Even if you have experienced uncomfortable or painful dental treatment in the past, we can use Relaxation (Sedation) Dentistry to help you relax and comfortably obtain the treatment that you need.

Because you are completely comfortable, Dr. Barotz can sometimes accomplish several years worth of dental treatment in only a few visits.

No Fear Sleep Dentistry is ideal if you:

  • Are afraid of needles

  • Have had bad experiences in the past with a dentist or in a dental office

  • Have dental phobias

  • Have toothaches or headaches

  • Have missing teeth

  • Fear the pain associated with dentistry

  • Hate drills or the smell of the dental office

  • Suffer from TMJ syndrome

  • Have old silver fillings that need to be replaced

  • Have serious tooth decay that is affecting your overall health

  • Experience constant oral pain

  • Can’t get numb with anesthesia

  • Or simply anyone who wants an anxiety-free and pain-free experience

Three types of sedation available to help you relax

At Barotz Dental, our doctors are trained in the use of three different types of anesthesia to help you relax during treatment. Whether you choose gas, a pill or an IV, our doctors will make sure that you are comfortable and painfree during your treatment.

Inhalation Consciousness Sedation

The most common form of sedation used by dentists is the use of Nitrous Oxide, also known as “laughing gas." If you elect this form of sedation, Dr. Barotz will place a mask over your nose to administer the sedative. You will feel lightheaded, and you may fall asleep during your treatment.

Advantages to Inhalation Consciousness Sedation

  • Works well for mild cases of anxiety

  • Takes effect quickly

  • Patients recover very quickly and can drive themselves after the appointment

  • Very few side effects

Disadvantage of Inhalation Consciousness Sedation

  • Patients with high anxiety may need a stronger level of sedation

  • A mask is placed over the patients nose

Oral Conscious Sedation

With Oral Conscious Sedation, a pill is taken about an hour before your treatment, which will make you feel relaxed and somewhat sleepy. You will, however, remain awake, and will be able to interact with and respond to the dentist. The sedative effects will last through your dental treatment.

Even patients with a moderate to severe gag reflex will find that their gag response is gone when they are sedated. Oral Conscious Sedation makes possible dental treatment that was previously impossible for many patients.

Advantages to Oral Sedation

  • All you have to do is swallow a pill

  • No needles involved

Disadvantages of Oral Sedation

  • The level of sedation is not easily changed

  • The effect is not immediate

  • You will need to have someone drive you home after your appointment

  • Some degree of amnesia is common

IV Sedation

IV Sedation requires specialized training and certification to be able to administer. With IV Sedation, medications are administered directly into the blood stream using a needle, and take affect almost immediately.

Advantages to IV Sedation

  • Takes effect immediately

  • Doctor can easily add more if needed

Disadvantages of IV Sedation

  • Requires a needle
