Does the thought of the dentist terrify you?

Have you procrastinated going to the dentist and now you think it is too late?  You are in a world of excruciating pain!  It’s not too late!  Wouldn’t it be nice to go to the dentist and sleep through your appointment?  Oral conscious sedation, also known as sleep dentistry is a phenomenal aspect of modern dental procedures.  At Barotz Dental we pride ourselves in giving our patients the best and most comfortable care possible.  If you are anxious or nervous about going to dentist or are a previously traumatized patient….Barotz Dental is the right place for you!  With the help of a little pill, we can make you feel relaxed, comfortable, and sleepy that you won’t remember anything.

How does sedation dentistry help me?

Sleep dentistry is designed to take the edge off.  If you are feeling anxious, we can make it go away!  All you have to do is take a pill about an hour before your appointment and by the time we are ready to start you will be feeling so relaxed and comfortable you won’t even care that you’re at the dentist.

After an initial consultation with a sleep dentist you’ll take the medication before your next visit. You’ll need a friend to help transport you to and from the office safely.

Prior to your appointment you’ll be awake, but drowsy. Most important, you’ll be relaxed and anxiety free. While you’re in the chair, the sleep dentist and sleep dentistry team monitors you closely. You won’t be unconscious; you’ll just enjoy a soothing mental and emotional "distance" from the goings on.

Next thing you’ll know, your sleep dentist is telling you the procedure is complete and it is time to go home.  Thanks to anxiety-free sleep dentistry, you didn’t even know you were here.

Is it safe?

This is extremely safe.  It has been researched extensively over the past 5 years.  The dosages used during these treatments are far below the recommended dosages of the medication.  Some patients are well sedated with just the first pill, other may need more.  You can now look forward to going to the dentist!

Will I feel any pain?

Sedation is wonderful for the highly anxious dental patient.  Oral sedation will allow you to be very relaxed.  In addition, local anesthesia will be administered to get you numb and comfortable.  Most likely after the procedure you won't remember much, if any of the experience, even though you will be awake and alert.  For those who don’t want to know anything, IV sedation may be the preferred route.  Either way you can put your dental needs and anxiety behind you.
